Nepal Polytechnic Institute (NPI) is the first and the only institution in the country under public limited company for technical education established in 2052 B.S. in Bharatpur, Chitwan. It has been registered under Nepal Company Act 2021 B.S. and Nepal Industrial Act 2049 B.S. initiated by a group of enthusiastic academicians, bureaucrats and entrepreneurs to help and solve growing demand of skilled technical human resource in the country. The institute has been affiliated to Purbanchal University in 2066 B.S. for Bachelor programs in Agriculture, Engineering, Medical and Veterinary Science. This institution has also been affiliated to Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) to undertake Diploma and TSLC level technical and vocational education in 2052 B.S.

This institute has five different blocks in five different places in its own land and buildings equipped with sophisticated labs, class rooms, library and adequate play ground. For the practical classes and experiential learning it has its own livestock farm, fieldwork facilities, well equipped plant clinic, veterinary teaching hospital and NPI-Narayani Samudayik Hospital (a general hospital) having 200 beds located at Bharatpur 10, Chitwan.

MISSION

The mission of NPI is to produce competent human resources able to work at national and international level and participate in the overall process of development of the country. The institute has been thus established to produce different levels of technical and vocational human resources. NPI also has a mission to provide consultancy and technical services in the respective disciplines. Moreover NPI is willing to make the students competent enough for the global competition.

LOCATION & FACILITIES

Nepal Polytechnic Institute has been located in a panoramic landscape, foothills of Mahabhatat range that has extended down its beauty to the plain of Bharatpur, Chitwan district. The Institute has been extended within 25000 square feet floor space with its nine different buildings to facilitate teaching learning process.

Facilities for the best teaching and learning have been created separately for each faculty that is organized with the premises of the institute. Standby generator provides continuous power supply even if in load shedding time. Administrative building, classrooms, practical fields, library, internet facilities and well-furnished laboratories as well as engineering workshops including different modern facilities have been thus created to support for the best quality education. Quite often student are taken to visit field-based activities related to the courses.

NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Since the time of its establishment, NPI has got a good repute in providing quality technical education and vocational training. Besides regular academic programs it has completed varieties of employment oriented short-term training courses in partnership and collaboration with renowned national and international organizations. Besides above trainings, the institute has recently signed a Long Term Agreement (LTA) with UNDP to impart Vocational training for the disqualified youths from Maoist Army cantonments. Similarly the institute is under process to conduct short-term trainings for unemployed youths of Rautahat and Parsa Districts, Nepal under the financial support of International Labor Organization (ILO).

The institute has been participating actively in Skill for Employability Project of British Council since 2008. Last year a visit had been made by the Principal, Er. Baburam Upadhyaya in UK to learn the activities of different UK institutions. In the mean time a relationship has been made with Dundee College Scotland and now a project Solar Power Unit has been implementing in Nepal with collaboration with Balaju School of Engineering and Technology and Nuwakot Trade School with the technical support of Dundee College. This project is especially designed to produce low cost solar power plant which will be a great innovation to solve the present electric crisis and load shedding problem of Nepal. NPI always welcome and spread its hands to all the national and international organizations for partnership in innovative works and quality education.

STUDENT WELFARE SOCIETY

This organization has been established in 2002 by the initiation of NPI students. The main objective of this society is to attract students towards technical education by providing adequate information and guidance to the students.

Frequently, it interacts with NPI administration in order to solve the student problems and acts as a pool between students and the administration. It organizes extracurricular activities in NPI anniversary. It also provides some scholarships to the meritorious but economically poor students of NPI. At present it has a fifteen member executive committee representing all the faculties of NPI.
